The Competent Authority has given its approval to the ICAI proposal to amend Regulations 25E, 25F, and 28F of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988. This allows candidates to provisionally register in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Foundation Course after passing Class X examinations.
The following are the salient features of the notification:-
Students who have passed the Class 10th examination conducted by an examining body established by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government or the State Government as equivalent may provisionally enroll in the ICAI Foundation Course.
The following are the eligibility requirements for taking the Foundation Examination:
- Students must register with the Institute’s Board of Studies on or before the 1st of January or 1st of July for the examinations to be held in May/June or November/December, respectively. In other words, a four-month study period is required before taking the Foundation Exam.
- Students must have taken the Senior Secondary (10+2) Examination administered by an examining body established by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government (or the State Government) as equivalent (for the purpose of admission to graduation course)
Also, there are no changes in the Syllabus and Registration Fee of the Foundation Course. The ICAI offers free Foundation level classes. For more information, students should check the Institute’s BOS Knowledge Portal on a regular basis for announcements.
